Last weeks in Canada + back in Belgium

Like I wrote last time, I had one last month in Canada and then had to go back to Belgium. So now while I'm writing this, I have been back in Belgium for one week and a half. On September 19th, I had my flight back. Before coming back to Belgium, I enjoyed my last month in Canada. I had to move from the room I was staying at the end of August and then stayed in my new room for three weeks before coming back. During those weeks I rented a bike, so I could go for a ride around the city. I went for a ride almost every day. I saw beautiful places that I won't forget. I rode along the Rideau River to the Hog's Back Falls and Mooney's Bay which is just beautiful. I also rode along the Ottawa River from both sides, Ottawa and Gatineau, the Rideau Canal to Dow's Lake and the beautiful park you have there. There is also a nice wildlife garden where I saw some beautiful animals. During my rides, I also saw other animals like rabbits, squirrels, ducks, geese and even deer. I had an amazing time.

During the time that I had my bike, I also went to the movie theatre for the first time since the pandemic started. I am a real movie fan and love to go to the movies. So now that the movie theatres are open again, I had to go. I went to see The New Mutants which I waited a long time for. I really liked it, especially that I was all alone in the room. I really missed going to the movies and really missed the feeling I have after seeing the movie. The movie theatre I went to is in Lansdowne Park which I walked around in before and after the movie. It's a nice park where you also have several shops and restaurants and also the sport stadium TD Place.

My last week in Canada was a really nice week. The first four days I went for a long bike ride. On Monday, I finally went to Gatineau Park which is massive. I was only able to do a little part of the park because it's just so big. I walked around the Pink Lake which is beautiful and did a walk and bike ride around the woods of the park. This is really a place I will do again when I go back. And when you're in Ottawa one day, this is a place you have to visit.

On Tuesday, I went to the city of Gatineau and rode along the Ottawa River. I saw the Rideau Falls from the other side and it's this day that I saw the deer. It was another beautiful day. On Wednesday, I rode along the Ottawa River one more time and on Thursday, before I had to bring back my bike, I rode along the Rideau River and Canal. Those were four amazing days I will never forget. On Friday, I walked all the way to the St Laurent Shopping Centre where I went to one of my favourite stores Spencer's one more time. It was a long but nice walk. On the way back, I walked along the Rideau River and saw the beautiful parks once more. During those last days, I took a lot of pictures. Some of them are really nice and you can see them on my Flickr account.

Saturday was the day I had to leave. My flight was only leaving in the afternoon, so I went for one last walk along the Ottawa River. I also went to the parliament hill and the locks one more time before I had to leave. Then it was time to leave. My flight went smoothly and I arrived in Brussels the morning after. My parents were waiting for me outside the airport and we immediately hugged each other. I missed hugging my parents as did they. My brother was also happy to see me again. I'm still a little jetlagged, but I have time to adjust to Belgium again.

One of the first things I had to do was go to the doctor for a coronatest. I tested negative, so that's good news, but I still had to stay home in quarantine for 14 days. I have still a few days to go, but this Sunday I'm allowed to go outside again. One of the first things I will do, is going for a walk along the sea. This is one of the only things, alongside my family, that I missed from Belgium. For now, I am enjoying being back home and adjusting being back. I am also starting to look for a job here in Belgium. Hopefully I have more luck finding something here.

I won't post a lot on here anymore because I'm not in Canada anymore, but sometimes I will give a little update about how things are going and in a few years I will be writing again when I am going back to Canada, because that's still the plan. But now I will be in Belgium and make the best of it here.

Week 43-44

We're only Tuesday, but I already toke a big decision this week. But more about that decision later. First I want to talk about some nice things I did these past two weeks, especially last weekend. Last Friday, my idol Miley Cyrus finally released her new single Midnight Sky. I have been listening to it on repeat since its release. The song is so good! A real masterpiece! I might be biased, but I don't care. Miley has real talent and this song really shows it. She also self-directed the music video for the song that is also very good and very Miley.

This week the NBA play-offs also started. Yesterday, on Monday August 17, the Raptors played their first game of round 1 and won. They play again on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. If they won the three following games, there going to the next round, the quarter-finals. It shouldn't be difficult to do it. They are a good time that could make it to the finals again. I've also been watching a lot of WNBA games, especially the ones from the Indiana Fever with our Belgian player Julie Allemand and from the Washington Mystics with our other Belgian player Emma Meesseman.

I went to a lot of walks around the city and the along the rivers and canal. The weather has been really nice with sometimes a day that it was raining a little bit, but we had more sunny days. I also found a new place starting August 30th. I went to visit the place and liked it, so I took it. Now comes the big decision that I took this week. My work permit ends at the start of October which is in a little more of a month. I still haven't found a job, and I think it won't happen this next month. Especially with the virus still around, it's not easy to find a job. So I decided that the best thing I can do right now is going back to Belgium and get some work experience there before coming back to Canada in 2-3 years. I'm still very young and have my whole life in front of me. I just graduated last year and don't really have work experience, so it's not easy to find a job when you don't have the experience. So I'm going back to Belgium next month on September 19th. That means I have one more month before leaving. I will use this month to enjoy as much of the city as I can. This means I probably won't be posting anything on here until I'm back in Belgium. I want to enjoy all the time I have.

Part of me is happy to go back to Belgium and see my family again, but a part of me is also sad that I have to leave. I have a great time here in Ottawa and really love the city, so it won't be easy to leave. But I know it's not a goodbye but a see you later. I will come back to Canada and this time it will be to stay longer and permanently. First I have to get some more experience and in 2-3 years I can try again.

So now I will enjoy my last month in Ottawa and then go back to Belgium. I had a great year here in Canada and I'm very happy I did it. It's an experience no one can take from me. I learned a lot of new things and will take that with me when I go back to Belgium and find a job. Hopefully I can find something there that I like. And then after 2-3 years, I can try again and come back to Canada. It's my dream and it will stay my dream, so I will keep working for it and make it come true. I won't give up and just go for it. That's the best thing you can do. We only have one life, so we have to make the best of it. If you have a dream and have something you really like and want to do, then do it. Don't let anyone or anything stop you from making your dreams come true.

Week 41-42

We're already in August! The time goes by really fast. It has been almost two months now that I moved to Ottawa. And I still discover new places. I had some great and some less great days, but I keep the spirit and faith. It starts to get a little frustrating to not be able to find a job, but I keep looking. I also started to look to register as a freelancer and maybe get something going with that. I also keep bus by doing my podcasts which are quite some work. Because of that I decided to release a new episode of my Belgic Music podcast every two weeks instead of every week. Six To See will have a new episode every Thursday because every week there is quite some new movies and series to see and quite some news about movies and series. And I really love to make that podcast. Like that I stay up-to-date about everything movies and series myself.

I won't really talk about the less great days, because on those days I didn't really do anything. But a have some days that were amazing and that I did things I will never forget. One of those days was last Tuesday. This was also the reason I didn't write here. That day one of my idols Lilly Singh did a Zoom hang. It was the second time she did it. Since she announced she was doing this and that you could register I did, but I was not one of the lucky fans selected for the first one. There is only room for 100 fans per zoom hang, so they have to do a selection. I wasn't for the first one, but I was for the second one that happened last week.  was so happy and also a little nervous when I got the mail. I was finally going to meet Lilly Singh, sort of. I had an amazing time and it was a lot of fun. I learned new things from her and was ready again to go for it.

The other amazing day I had was last Saturday. It was the first of August and one of the Miley fans organised another virtual concert. These past few months, they organised several ones during the lockdown and I listened every time. This one was even more special because it was the first one since I'm in Ottawa and Miley Cyrus herself liked one of my tweets. Yes, my idol liked my tweet!! I couldn't believe it at first and looked several times to be sure, but it really happened. I was so happy that my heart was beating so fast. Maybe it could also be from all the dancing, but that was just unbelievable and unforgettable.

After the concert, it was time for basketball. Since July 25, the NBA and WNBA seasons started and I haven't missed any game from the three teams I follow. That day, after the concert, the Washington Mystics played and lost with two points. Then it was time for the first seeding game of the Toronto Raptors. After playing three good scrimmage games, it was time for the real deal. They played against the LA Lakers and they won. They also won their second seeding game which was yesterday afternoon against the Miami Heat. It was a very nice game. The Mystics have been playing very well too. They won their three first games and only lost for the first time last Saturday which was with only two points. One of our best Belgian players Emma Meesseman has been playing very well. And our other Belgian player playing in the WNBA for the first time is also doing a great job. Julie Allemand who plays for the Indiana Fever, have been playing great. They lost two and won two games, which is still good. Julie herself have been doing such a good job that she was named defensive player of the week. And at the lats game on Sunday she almost ad a triple-double. She only played four games in the WNBA and she is already showing everyone what she is capable of.

Something else I was very excited about was season 2 of The Umbrella Academy. This is one of my favourite shows and was so happy when season 2 came out last Friday. We have been waiting for more than a year for the new season, so it was good to finally see it. Before the new season came out, I rewatched season 1 first lat week and then on Friday and Saturday I watched the new season. It is so good and I love the new characters. I already loved Ellen Page a lot and seeing her in The Umbrella Academy makes me love her even more. She is amazing in this second season and her character finally founds some happiness and peace. If you haven't seen The Umbrella Academy yet, you should really check it out.

This is most of what my last week was. The week before I also had some amazing times. The weekend of July 24-25-26, there was Comic-Con at home. It started on Wednesday July 22 and went on until the Sunday, July 26. That was the time that normally San Diego Comic-Con would have happened, but because of the virus it as been cancelled. Instead they organised a virtual version with several amazing panels. Some of my favourites were the ones for the movie The New Mutants and the shows Wynonna Earp and The 100. All the three panels were amazing. At the one for The New Mutants they released a new trailer and also showed the first few minutes of the movie. We have been waiting a very long time for this movie, but now it will finally be released later this month. The panels for Wynonna Earp and The 100 were also amazing. Wynonna Earp season 4 finally started. Episode 1 released that Sunday, a day after the panel and episode 2 released last Sunday. Both episodes were amazing and I'm so happy we got it. The 100 is also a great show which has season 7, the last season, that is releasing right now. Every week a new episode is released, except for these past two weeks when it was the mid-season break. But this week they're back. The panel was amazing especially when they did a little segment in which several actors showed up who played characters on the show that died. Some other actors from the show that couldn't make it on the panel, sent a little message. It was really nice to see them all.

I also went for some walks these past two weeks. We had some nice weather some days that it was also very hot and e few days that it rained a little bit. Today is one of those days. It's rainy and there are a lot of clouds. Sunday was also one of those days that it rained a lot and that there was a lot of wind and clouds. We even had a tornado alert that day, but nothing really happened. It was just a normal storm.

So, these past two weeks I watched a lot of basketball and I will be seeing a lot of it this month. I don't mind it because I really missed it. It's nice to see the players back in action. It would be even greater if the Raptors and Mystics can make it to the finals again and make it a back-to-back. We'll have to see. For now, I will keep on looking and applying for jobs and also find a new place to stay because at the end of this month, I have to leave this place. My rent ends on august 30th, so I have to find another room. But I already found some interesting places in the neighborhood. I love this place, but unfortunately I can't stay.

August 4, 2020

Week 40

It has been 40 weeks that I'm in Canada. I still haven't found a job, but I keep looking and applying and I stay positive and optimistic. There will be something that will come up. For now, I have been enjoying the nice weather and I have been working on my podcasts. Last Thursday the first episode of my new podcast Six To See was released and now I'm working on episode two which will be out on Thursday. Little preview for the people who follow this blog: Cursed is one of the show I talk about. This new show on Netflix with Katherine Langford was released last Friday I finished the season yesterday. I really liked it and can't wait for a season two because it ends with a big cliffhanger. I need to now what happens next.

On Saturday, it was really nice outside, so I went for a long walk. I walked all the way to Dow's Lake along the Rideau canal. It was a long but beautiful walk in the middle of nature. The lake was beautiful and I had an amazing day. To go there I walked along the canal and to come back I went through the city and went through the neighborhoods of Little Italy and Chinatown. It was really like I was walking in Italy and China while still being in Canada. I hadn't had the chance to walk there, so I was happy to finally see it. Especially little Italy was nice to see. The evening before, on Friday night, I went for a walk and went behind the buildings of Parliament Hill to see the beautiful sunset. This was one of the best sunsets I have seen since I'm in Ottawa.

This week a few things are happening for which I'm very excited. Tomorrow, on Wednesday, San Diego Comic-Con at home starts. Normally, comic-Con would be happening in San Diego this week but because of the virus it has been cancelled. Instead they will do a virtual one which is free to watch on their website. I already set a reminder for several panels I want to see like the one for The New Mutants, The 100 and Wynonna Earp. I can't wait to see it!

The other things I'm very excited about is the NBA and WNBA seasons coming back. The WNBA season will start this Saturday and the NBA season will start next week, but they will play some scrimmage before that which will be shown too, so I can watch those games. The Raptors are playing their first game this Friday and on Saturday I will be watching the Washington Mystics with our Belgian player Emma Meesseman who play against Indiana Fever in which Julie Allemand, another of our Belgian players, will be playing for the first time. I can't wait to see them back in action. I really missed it.

So that is a big part of what I will be doing this week. I will also keep looking and applying for jobs and going for some walks. The weather is nice and it's not too hot anymore. Only last weekend it was hot and we had temperatures above the 30 degrees. But this week should be alright with a little rain sometimes and temperatures around the 28 and a few days that it will be 30 degrees. And a happy national day of Belgium. Let's drink a beer and eat some chocolate and waffles to celebrate it.

July 21, 2020

Week 39

I had another great week. Last Thursday and Friday were the hottest days yet with temperatures until 36 degrees Celsius which was feeling like 39 degrees. It was almost impossible to stay in the sun and even in the shadow it was very hot. But with that hot weather I could go out in the evening for a walk and to see a nice sunset. Last Friday, I walked along the canal again, which is one of my favourite places to walk, and then I went to the locks to see the sunset. That is one of the best places to see the sunset. You have a beautiful view on the river and Quebec.

In the afternoon on Friday, I watched the first music nights they did at Q-Music, my favourite Belgian radio station. Like every summer, they move to my hometown of Ostend for the summer to make radio from there. During normal summers, they are on the beach with their Q beach house, but because of the virus, they did an alternative. They are doing the Q-hotspot this summer in one of the parks we have in Ostend. It's a smaller setting with less people allowed because of the virus. Luckily they show everything online, so I could also follow along all the way from Ottawa. This first music night was with one of my favourite Belgian artists Laura Tesoro and also with Loïc Nottet who I really like. It was a lot of fun even if I wasn't really there. This Friday there is another music night with The Starlings who I can't wait to see play.

Last week, I talked about a big announcement that I had. If you follow my social media, you already know what it is. Last Thursday I started my new podcast Six To See which is a podcast about movies and series. I released a little introduction episode to start and this Thursday the first episode of the podcast will be released. So go follow Six To See on all social media platforms to stay up-to-date. You can always listen to the episodes on anchor and also on other platforms like Spotify. If you are a big fan of movies and series like me, than this podcast is perfect for you. On every episode I talk about six movies and/or series to see and some other interesting movies and series news.

I can't wait to have so much fun making this podcast! I always loved music, but also movies and series and I love to talk about it. When I was making radio in Belgium, I always talked about the movies and series that I saw. I even tried to go see a new movie almost every week, so I could talk about it. In my last year at Urgent.fm I even had my own thing named Emelyne heeft gezien in which I talked about movies and series. Now I can't really do it on the radio right now, so it became a podcast.

Yesterday, Monday July 13th, I finally went to play basketball again for the first time since I'm in Canada. Last Friday I went to the mall for the first time since the lockdown. It was also my first time going to the mall here in Ottawa. There is the Rideau Mall not far from where I live which is a big and beautiful mall. While being there I finally bought a basketball, so I could go play sometimes. Yesterday was that day. I found a basketball court not far from where I live along the Rideau river. I had an amazing time. I was shooting for a while, until some guys came and wanted to play a little game. So I also played a little 3 on 3 with some of the guys that were there. It was nice and fun and it has been way too long ago that I played. I will probably go back in a few days.

This week the weather will be nice again, with some days that it will rain a little bit, but that's ok after having very hot days. Since this past weekend the temperature went down a little bit which is nice. It was getting too hot. It's perfect now to go for a walk, so that's what I will do. I will also continue applying to jobs which I also have been doing these past few weeks. Hopefully I will get a response from one of them soon.

July 14, 2020

Week 38

It's July! The summer is officially here! And it has been a month now that I moved to Ottawa. I still discover new places that are nice and beautiful. Like earlier this week I saw the waterfalls that are nearby where I live for the first time. I also did a walk along the Rideau river and found a basketball court where I could go to play sometimes. I only need a ball and I can go play a little bit.

I still need to go to Rideau Hall, but that is for later this week. It's really hot right now and this week it will be over the 30 degrees Celsius all week. One day it will even be 35 degrees! Luckily I have a mini fan that cools me down a little bit. There is a real heat wave coming by. But I don't really mind. I love the summer and the sun and will enjoy the nice weather. I can go see the sunset every night if I want to.

Last wednesday was Canada Day. It was my first time celebrating it while being in Canada and I loved it. I tried a beavertail for the first time and ate a poutine as dinner. I also went for a walk around byward market and in the evening I went to see the sunset and enjoy the evening at the parc. I had an amazing Canada Day. And to celebrate it, I had to wear my Canada gear. From my shirt to my hat to even my underwear. You can see the picture I took of me and other pictures I took that day on my Instagram and Flickr.

I also posted some pictures on Flickr that I took these past few months when I was in London and Cambridge. And this week, I will take some more pictures and post them, so stay tuned for new pictures. It will be a little too hot during the day to go for a walk, so I will probably go in the morning or evening. And I will see some nice sunsets again. I will also continue to look for a job and I also have a big announcement coming on Thursday that I will post on social media. So stay tuned for that, especially if you are a big fan of movies and series like I am.

July 7, 2020

Week 36-37

Happy early Canada Day! Tomorrow is July 1st, which is the day they celebrate Canada Day here. This is my first time celebrating it while being in Canada. Unfortunately, because of the virus all the big outdoor celebrations are cancelled, so I won't be able to really celebrate it like they usually do, but I can still celebrate it online and in the country.

It has been three weeks now that I moved to Ottawa and I'm really loving the city. I think that Ottawa became my favourite city in Canada. There is a lot of beautiful places where you can go enjoy the nice weather and go for a walk. It has been really nice these last few days, some days even a little too hot, so in the evening I went for a walk sometimes and see the beautiful sunset. At the park nearby you have a beautiful view and I also found a great place behind Parliament Hill where you can sit down and enjoy the view. I made some pictures of the sunsets that you can see on my Flickr that I made. I will be posting more pictures on it every week.

I'm still looking for a job and I hope I find something soon. We're in phase 2 right now which means that more things are reopening and more jobs are getting free. So I should start to get more opportunities. With phase 2, the hair dressers also reopened so I was finally able to go do my hair. It got way to long and so I went short again and I love it. I was very happy I could go do my hair.

This past week I watched a lot of interesting live streams. Variety did a TV fest which was fun and this weekend there was several pride events. One of my favourites was Global Pride that was live for more than 24 hours. On Saturday, I watched it the whole day. This was supposed to be my first pride in Canada, but because of the virus it has been cancelled. Luckily, there are online pride events being organised so I can still celebrate it. Tonight, there is one more pride event organised by Netflix that I'm going to watch. Happy pride to everyone!

Yesterday evening, June 29th, there was an online version of the Juno awards they did. The Juno awards are the most important music awards in Canada. It was a great show with one of my favourite Canadian artists that won 3 Junos: Alessia Cara. She also performed one of her songs. I hope the one happening next year in Toronto will be happening in real life. And hopefully I will be able to go and see all the stars.

I already had three amazing weeks in Ottawa and I will have a great summer here. There is a lot to do and to see, so I will not get bored. Now I only have to find a job, and everything will be perfect. I found my city, now I have to find my job. Happy pride! Happy Canada Day! Happy summer!

June 30, 2020

Week 35

It has been a little more than a week now that I moved to Ottawa. I went for  a walk almost every day to explore different parts of the city. I already saw beautiful places that I will go to a lot. One of my favourite places to go which is not that far from where I live is the Major's Hill Park. It's a nice and big park where you can relax and enjoy the nice weather. You also have a beautiful view there.

I already walked around Byward Market and Centretown and along the Rideau Canal which is another of my favourite places to go. You can walk along the whle canal which is quite long. You would be gone for a while if you want to do the whole thing. This week I will go see the Rideau Hall and the official residence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Maybe I will see him. I'm also planning to go for a walk on the other side of the bridge in Gatineau, Quebec. This is one of the cool things about Ottawa. We're just at the border between the provinces Ontario and Quebec, so you can easily go from one province to the other.

During my walks, I take a lot of pictures. I can't post any of them here because I don't have any space left, but I started a Flickr account where I will be posting some pictures every week. So if you want to see the pictures I take, you can visit my Flickr account. This past week I already took some nice pictures that I will post on Flickr.

It was a good first week in Ottawa and I love the city already. I will have a good time here. The only thing now is finding a job. I have been working on finding a job by doing research and applying and networking. Hopefully something will come up soon. For now, I also enjoy of my days and the nice weather. It has been very sunny and this week will also be very nice. So I can go for a walk every day and enjoy the sun.

June 16, 2020

Week 33-34

It's official: I moved to Ottawa. On Saturday, June 6th, my Canadian mom rode me all the way from Cambridge to Ottawa. It was quite a ride but it went smoothly and fast. We didn't have any problems. Before moving to Ottawa, I spend a week at her house in Cambridge. I loved being there with them again. It made me think,  back to the time I was living with them in London. I had an amazing week there with them and the pets. I also met some other people they know and that I wanted to meet. It was a great week. One day I went for a walk in the neighbourhood and I really liked it. It's very beautiful there in that region of Cambridge. I hope I can go back soon.

It has been 3 days now that I arrived in Ottawa and I love it already. I already went for a few walks and really liked what I saw. Especially the neighbourhood I live in is very nice. I went for a walk through one of the big parks here and alongside the river between Ontario and Quebec. I also saw the Parliament Hill and some other government buildings. I think I will have a great time here.

I am staying in an apartment that I share with four other people. They are international students who are coming all over the world. There is one other girl who is from Brazil and there are three boys who are from China, Spain and the UK. We really have almost the whole world in one apartment. They are very nice and friendly and I will have a good time here. Ottawa is a very beautiful place and really feels good to me. I already feel more at home. There is a lot more to see and do here and it's also fun to hear some French once in a while when you walk around the city.

Now I have to look and search for a job and then it would be even better. I already applied for several jobs and I keep applying. This is the only thing that still needs to happen: finding a job. Hopefully something is coming soon. But for now, I will work on finding one and also enjoy my time here exploring the city. I'm ready for a new adventure!

June 9, 2020

Week 32

Five more days until I leave London. On Sunday, May 31st, my Canadian mom will come pick me up. I will stay at her house for a little week first until June 6th, when she will drive me all the way to Ottawa. I'm a little sad to leave, because I like London, but it's time for me to start a new adventure. I'm excited to go Ottawa, but first I will enjoy my last few days here in London and I will also enjoy my time next week with my Canadian mom and her daughter.

Last Thursday, on May 31st, I went for a walk with two friends. I wanted to see them before I leave. Tomorrow, on May 27th, we will go for a walk one more time before I move this Sunday. These last few days it has been very nice outside, so I have been enjoying the nice weather by going for a few walks again and by sitting in the backyard. Summer has really arrived now.

I started to pack my stuff this week, which makes everything even more official. It's time to move. And it's time for a new adventure. But first, I will enjoy my last few days in London.

May 26, 2020

Week 31

It's really official now: I'm moving to Ottawa. I found a really nice room in an apartment in downtown Ottawa. I will move in there on June 6th. I am very excited to go and start a new chapter. Before going to Ottawa, I will be staying at the house of my Canadian mom for a little week and then she will drive me all the way to Ottawa. I'm very thankful that she wants to do that for me. So it's my last few days in London. On May 31st, I'm leaving London.

Before leaving the city I will enjoy some of it by going for a few little walks, in a safe way off course. This Thursday, May 21st, I will go on a social distance walk with my good friend Rachel. I will be very happy to see her again, except that I can't hug her. But I'm already happy that I can see her. I'm very excited to move to Ottawa and I can't wait to explore the city. My Canadian mom already told me I will like it there and even gave me same interesting places I should go when it's safe again to do so.

This last week I had a nice time, especially this past weekend. This weekend there was the second edition of Homecon, an online Comic con with different live panels from different shows. I followed a few panels like the one from Orphan Black, The 100 and Wynonna Earp. It was really nice to see and it felt really personal too. On Saturday, Eurovision did a special show named Europe: Shine a light. That day was supposed to be the finals of the 2020 Eurovision Song Festival, but it has been cancelled because of the virus. Instead they did a really nice show with live performances from different artists who participated in the contest before and also cameo's from previous winners. Even Bjorn from ABBA had a special message. It was a really nice show and I can't wait for Eurovision 2021. It will happen in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, just like it was supposed to happen this year.

On Sunday, the cast and crew of the show Orphan Black was live on Facebook to do a live table read. They did two episodes of season 1 and it was really fun to follow. The last season of the show has been released a few years ago but it's always fun to see the actors play their role again. And the actors themselves also like to play their role again. Lead actor of the show Tatiana Maslany was amazing playing all the different roles/clones she plays in the show. She is an amazing actor and I really like her.

I already have a place now in Ottawa. Now I just need to find a job. It is not that easy to find a job right now because of the virus, but I keep trying. I already found some interesting jobs I applied for and I will keep looking. But for now, I keep working on my podcast and I also enjoy my last few days here by watching movies and playing video games with the kids. I think they will really miss me and I will also miss them. Luckily, we can still stay in touch via the internet.

Week 30

Another week has past. Not a lot has happened this week, because I'm still staying at home. I have been working on my podcast and on research about Ottawa. I found some interesting places where I could stay and I have been sending emails to different people and companies. I also watched some Netflix. One of the shows I watched and really loved is Hollywood. It's a really good show and I really loved it. Another show I watched is Never Have I Ever from Mindy Kaling. The show stars an Indian-American girl who is played by a girl from Canada. It's a really good show and I need a season 2. I also watched the movie The Half Of It which is also a really good movie.

In Belgium they also have some good shows and one of them I have been watching is Liefde Voor Muziek. Yesterday, Monday May 11th, was the last episode in which we got the covers. Luckily, they always do a making of episode which will air next week. It was really nice and the artists made some great music and hits. Eevry Monday I also watch the new episodes of The Last Dance, the documentary about Micheal Jordan. And I also watch the new episode of Insecure and Killing Eve. Killing Eve is one of my favourite shows and Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are amazing in it.

This Sunday was Mother's Day so I wished my mom a happy mother's day. We also videochatted just like we do every Sunday. I always look forward to Sunday because I know that that day I will talk to my parents. It's always nice and fun to talk to them. Something else the family has been doing is using the app Famileo on which you can post pictures and text and then all the things we posted will be made as a h-journal which they send to my grandparents. They don't have internet so we can't reach them like that. So this app is perfect. Every week a new journal is made and sent to them. They were very happy with the first one and they will be very happy with the other ones too.

This is it for now. I keep working on my podcast and Ottawa. And I also keep myself busy watching stuff. I hope things will get better and they are, because I can't wait to move to Ottawa and explore the city. Sometimes, I dream about walking around the city and sometimes I do virtual walks on Google Maps so I can explore the city already like that. But for now, I am staying home and trying to enjoy myself and keep positive.

Week 29

One week has past again. I have been staying home now for a bit more than seven weeks. Luckily, they have a nice backyard here where I can go get some fresh air sometimes. And going to the store every two weeks, has also been nice. The numbers are starting to drop and things are starting to re-open, so we are almost there. We just need to stay home a little longer and then we will be able to go outside a little more. I think nothing big will happen anymore this year, but we have to keep going and keep positive. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

I have something big to look forward to myself. I will be moving from London and will go live in another city in Canada. I can't really find something here in London, so I have been talking to my parents and Canadian mom and have been thinking about what I want to do, especially now that I have to stay home and have time to do it. I am perfectly trilingual, I know English, French and Dutch and when you know that the two official languages in Canada are English and French, it's a big advantage to know both. So the best place I could go is the capital Ottawa. Everything is in English and French there just like in Brussels where everything is in Dutch and French. I think I will be more lucky to find something there and also more in my element.

So that's what I have been doing these past few weeks while I have to stay home. I have been doing research about the city and contacting people and companies there. I'm also lucky that my Canadian mom lived and worked there for a long time, so she knows the city well and can help me. The plan is to move there next month in June, more specific at the end of June. Hopefully things will be better by then. But I'm positive it's going to be. I have the whole month of May now to find a place and also to look for a job.

I look forward to moving to Ottawa and exploring the city. I have only been there once more than two years ago when I went on a trip to the capital with friends during the strike that was happening at the college. I really liked being there and I think I will like it to live there. I will miss London a little bit because I also like this city, but I think it will be a good thing for me to move to the capital. And I can always come to London and visit the city when I want. It's a long drive, six hours, but I don't mind it if it is to see the city again and see my friends again that live here.

So this is some big news and I look forward to move to Ottawa. For now I will enjoy the rest of my time in London and I hope everything will get better. Keep positive, keep your head up and stay home if you can. We're almost there!

May 5, 2020

Week 26-28

It has been a while that I wrote here, but it's mostly because not really a lot is happening right now. I'm staying home because of the virus and so I don't go for walks and can't make nice pictures right now. I keep myself busy working on my podcast and my Belgic Music website. I also do some research about things and try to learn to work with Photoshop again, because it has been a while that I used it.

I also watch a lot of YoTube videos and watch movies and shows on Netflix. There is also a lot of people I like that go live sometimes, so that also keeps me busy. One of my favourite livestreams are the social distancing soirees that my favourite Youtube creators Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart do. It's always fun to see them together. Another of my favourite Youtube creators Lilly Singh has also been releasing several videos these last few weeks and everytime she releases a new video she goes in the chat with her fans which is fun.

Something else I do to keep me busy besides making my own podcast is listening to podcasts. One of my favourites to listen to right now is the podcast from Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart. It's named This Might Get Weird and is very funny. It's always fun to listen to them talking abour random stuff that happened to them. Hannah Hart also has a podcast with her friend Hannah Gelb named Hannahlyze this which is also a podcast I listen to sometimes.

I'm also reading one of the books I have with me right now. I'm reading Becoming by Michelle Obama and it's a really nice book. She also announced that there will be a documentary on Netflix releasing May 6 which will show behind the scenes from her book tour and I can't wait to see it. Another documentary I'm watching is The Last Dance about Michael Jordan. As a basketball fan you really have to see it. Talking about basketball, I will rewatch the WNBA finals this week. I really miss watching games, but luckily I can rewatch games that already happened. It was fn to rewatch the NBA finals from last year and now I will rewatch the WNBA finals from last year.

I hope everyone is healthy and taking care of themselves. I am staying home and taking care of myself. I hope things will be over soon, but things start to look better. They are already talking about re-opening things which is a good thing. So I hope I will be able to go for my walks again soon and continue to find a job.

April 28, 2020

Week 24 & 25

It has been three weeks now that I'm staying at home because of the virus. I get a little bored sometimes, but that's ok. I keep busy and have enough things I can do. Most of the time I watch movies and shows on Netflix. This week I started watching Sex Education. I don't know why I didn't start watching that show sooner, because I really like it. I have also been watching a few Belgian shows like Groeten Uit and the new season of Liefde Voor Muziek which is one of my favourite shows. I also rewatched Wynonna Earp last week and can't wait for season four to come soon.

I really miss watching basketball, but luckily they are showing different games again online from the past years. They are also showing the Raptors games from the play-offs last year when they won the Championship. It's really fun to rewatch it and have all the feels again. Last night it was game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Milwaukee Bucks. That was the game they won to go to the Finals. Tonight they start showing game one of the Finals, so I will watch.

Something I am very grateful for, is Miley Cyrus and her Instagram show she started. This week she is doing a little break, but these last three weeks, she was live on Instagram from Monday to Friday with her live Instagram show Bright Minded. It is always fun to see her and it always made my day. Something I also always look forward to is Friday night when my favourite Youtube trio is going live. It has been three weeks now that Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart and Grace Helbig are going live on Friday to talk and answer fan questions. It's always fun to see them together and they always make me laugh a lot.

Because of the virus, it isn't really th etime to find a job. So right now I have time to think about my future and about what I want to do when this is all over. I have been talking about it with my parents and Canadian mom, and I think it would be a good idea to move from London and go somewhere else. One of the destinations is the capital of Canada, Ottawa. I already did some research about the city and it looks really nice to live there. I wll continue doing a little research about the city and about how it is to live there. I think it could be a good place for me. But for now, I'm stuck in London and I stay at home. I only go outside to go to the grocery store, just like I did yesterday, Monday.

This week I will be at home doing the stuff I have been doing this past three weeks. Reading a book, watching movies and series, doing research, playing some games... and I also started to use Photoshop again. It has been a while that I used it and now I have time to learn to work with it again. So I'm starting to make some things. So I have enough things I can do while at home. But I still hope this is going to be over soon. I miss going for long walks downtown and I miss seeing my friends and especially my Canadian mom and her daughter. But everyone is doing fine. I'm healthy and good, my family is too and that's the most important thing right now. I hope evevryone is taking care of themselves and stay home if you can!

April 7, 2020

Week 23

It has been a bit more than a week now that I'm staying home and staying inside because of the virus. I have been spending my time working on my podcast, listening to music, reading a book and watching movies and series. I'm happy I still have some things I can do from home. The only thing I really miss are my long walks, but for now it's better that I stay home and take care of myself. The only time I went outside is yesterday to go to the grocery store to get some food. It felt weird to go outside and see almost nobody. In the bus it was really quit and in the store there was a few people.

Something that brights up my day every day in the week, is the new Instagram live show that Miley Cyrus started. Eevry day of the week she goes live on Instagram and talkes about different things to brighten your mind and keep positive, especially now. She has a new guest everyday. It always put a smile on my face and makes my day better. There are also a lot of different artists that perform live on Instagram, so that is also fun to watch. It's like a private concert you get for free which is really nice. My favourite YouTube creators, the Holy Trinity Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart and Grace Helbig also went live for one hour last week whch was a lot of fun. I hope they will do it again soon.

I have a lot of movies and series on my list that I still have to see, so I have enough to do these next few weeks. I also have my book I'm readng right now and I have a few podcasts I listen to that keeps my busy. I also keep working on my own podcast. This is the good thing about working on things that happen online. You can easily keep working on it.

The only thing that is less fun, is that I still don't have a job and right now is not really the time to find a job. I hope this thing will be over soon so I can find a job. I also want to enjoy my summer here, so I hope that when the summer will be here, everything will be alright and we will be able to go outside again and enjoy the summer. Maybe this is also a good reason to be able to stay longer. I will lose a big period of time that I would have been able to work and gain experience, which I can't right now because of the virus. So hopefully something positive will come from this.

I will stay home this next few weeks while we have to and will only go outside if I need something. I hope everyone who is able to stay home, is doing the same thing. And to the people who still have to work: we thank you and support you! I hope everyone is doing fine and taking care of themselves. Stay home and wash your hands!

March 24, 2020

Week 22

This has been a weird week and these are weird times. Because of COVID-19 everyone's life is different right now than we planned. But we can go back to normal if everyone stays home and takes care of themselves. I'm staying home myself and only go outside if I really need to. Here in Ontario they declared a state of emergency. A lot of public places are closing. This is a good thing because how sooner we close everything and how more  people stay at home, how sooner it will be over and we will go back to normal. So if you want to enjoy your summer, please stay home if you can. If you don't do it for yourself, do it for the people around you, for the people who are more at risk. I'm staying home and I'm taking care of myself. I hope you do too. #StayHome

March 17, 2020

Week 21

This week was a good week, especially because of the weather. For a few days it was really nice and sunny outside, so I went for a few nice walks. Lats Thursday, I walked for a while alongside the river. Is tarted downtown and was almost at Western University when I took the bus back. During the weekend I also walked for a while. On Saturday, I went to the Covent Garden Market where there is a market every Saturday. This Saturday it was a special maple syrup edition. I bought my first little bottle of maple syrup since I'm back. On Sunday I went for a little walk and on Monday again because it was nice and sunny outside.

Last week I applied for a job that is one of my dream jobs. It would be amazing if I get it. We will see. I cross my fingers. I released episode 8 of my podcast today and will look to start working on episode 9. I really love to make this podcast and would love it if it could become something bigger which I can b epaid for. I love ediiting audio and would love to make it my job. I will have to see if I can find something like that. For now I do it in my free time.

This next week, I will start going out with my camera and take pictures of the city, if the weather is good. I will continue looking for a job and hopefully I get a response of one of the applications I submitted. But for now, I keep the hope and keep positive. Something will come up when it has to.

March 10, 2020

Week 20

We are already at week 20. It has been almost five months now that I came back to London, that is the same amount of time I was here two years ago to study at Fanshawe. This week I went for a few walks again. It snowed a lot, so it was a lot of walking in the snow. I am still looking for a job and applied for a few jobs last week that I would like to have. Hopefully I will get a response this week.

Sunday, March 1st, there was a birthday party for the youngest kid they have here of the family I stay with. He turned three that day and they did a big birthday party for him. We had good food and ate some nice cake. It was also nice to see the people again that were there. It has been from the Halloween party that I saw a lot of them, so it was nice to see them again.

Yesterday and today, the weather is pretty bad, so I stay inside and do some work. I released episode seven of my Belgic Music podcast and will work on episode eight today and the rest of the week. Yesterday, March 2nd, I also watched the three Pitc Perfect movies again. All three of them are on Netflix right now, so I had to do a Pitch Perfect marathon. I love those movies and saw them several times already, but I still wanted to see them again. And I'm happy I saw them again because I really love those movies and I love the cast, especially Anna Kendrick and Hailee Steinfeld.

This week I will keep working on my podcast and keep looking for a job. Hopefully I will get a response for one of the jobs I applied for that I would like to have. If not, I keep going. I am someone that doesn't give up easily and I keep my head up and stay positive. Something will come up one day. Everything happens for a reason, so maybe the job for me will come later. For now, I try to enjoy my free time by going for walks and watch all the movies and shows I want to watch. Tonight there is also a Raptors game. Hopefully they will win again because they lost their last three games.

March 3, 2020

Week 18-19

We're two weeks later and I still haven't found a job. I really want to have something and I need to find something soon. I applied for a lot of different jobs these past two weeks. Hopefully I will get a response from at least one of them. Two weeks ago, when I was writing on this blog I was watching the basketball game of Canada. They won that game and are going to the Olympics, just like Belgium. Belgium wrote history that weekend being the first time they are going to the Olympics. I can't wait to see them play again this summer.

The Raptors are also doing well. They won 15 straight games but then last their last game before the All-Star game which means the streak ended at 15. Last weekend I watched the NBA All-Star game. It was an amazing game that was very tied and fun to watch. The new format was really good and I hope they will do it like that again next year. The 3-point challenge and dunk contest were also very fun to watch. This Friday the Raptors played their first game after the All-Star weekend and they won. Tonight (Febr 23) they play again. Hopefully they will win this game too.

These past two weeks I went for a few walks. Especially these past few days were nice days to go for a walk. It was really nice and sunny outside. Today (Febr 23) it's also very sunny so I went for a walk. It was really nice and relaxing. This makes me want to be summer even more. On Friday we celebrated the birthday of my friend Chela. We has some cake and we had a good time. There are a few more birthdays coming up next week, so we will be celebrating a lot. But I will also keep working on my podcast and keep looking and applying for jobs. Hopefully something is going to come up in these next few weeks.

Febr 23, 2020

Week 16-17

While I'm writing this, I'm watching the Canadian Women's Basketball team playing against Japan for the Olympic Qualifier Tournament in my hometown Ostend, Belgium. Thursday was the first day of the tournament and it was a close game for Belgium against Canada. Canada won the game. On Saturday they played again. Belgium played against Japan and won, Canada played against Sweden and also won which means they were sure to be qualified for the Olympics this summer in Tokyo. This Sunday Belgium had to play against Sweden. It was an important game because if Belgium won, they would be qualified for the Olympics. It was a close game bu they played very well in the second half and won. So Belgium is going to the Olympics this summer! It has been years that this happened so they really wrote history today. Right now it's the last game of the tournament. Canada is playing against Japan and after the first half it's a very close game. Both team are qualified to go to the Olympics, but they still go for it. Hopefully Canada wins.

I still don't have a job. I already applied at a lot of places, but haven't got any response yet, except from Chipotle. I had a job interview but I didn't get the job. So I keep looking and applying. Last Friday, on February 7, I went to the movies to see the new Harley Quinn movie Birds Of Prey. I was very excited to see the movie and it really was amazing! I loved it so much! Margot Robbie did an amazing job. I really recommend to go see this movie.

Another historical event happened in basketball: the Toronto Raptors already won 14 straight games which is the most ever of a sports team from Toronto. Tomorrow, Monday February 10, they will try to make it 15. I havn't missed any Raptors game yet, and I would like to keep it like that. This past week I also kept working on my Belgic Music Podcast. I released the first episode about a Belgian artist. You can listen to the podcast at Belgic Music.

Tonight (Febr. 9) it's the Oscars, so I will be watching that. Two of my favourite artists will perform, Billie Eilish and Janelle Monae. I can't wait to see them perform. This next week I will keep working on my podcast and I will keep looking and applying for jobs. I hope I will get a response for any job. I get bored sometimes, so I would love to have something to do. We'll have to see. I stay positive and I know something will come eventually.

Febr 9, 2020

Week 15

January is already almost over. I can't believe the first month of 2020 is already almost over. It went by really fast. This past week I haven't done a lot, except keeping to look for a job and apply for a few and also work on my Belgic Music podcast. Today I released the second episode which you can listen on Belgic Music.

A few days ago, on January 23, it has been exactly two years ago that I had to leave London and go back to Belgium. It has been two years that I had to leave from studing abroad at Fanshawe College and having a dream come true. That period of time is one of the best times of my life and I'm happy I was able to do it. I'm also very happy that I was able to come back.

Sunday started good. I videochatted with my parents like I do every Sunday morning and then I worked on my podcast, but then the news came that there was a helicopter crash in LA and that one of the passengers was Kobe Bryant. Being a big fan of basketball, it was very sad news. I was heartbroken when I heard the news and I still am. That afternoon the Toronto Raptors played a game which was difficult to watch without tearing up. I can imagine it was also very difficult for the players to play a game after hearing such news. Kobe Bryant is a legend and will forever be in our hearts. And his daughter too. Hearing the news that his daughter was also in the helicopter crash made it even more sad. She had a whole future in front of her. This makes you think and realise that life is short and you have to make the best of it, because you never know when it will be over. So to everyone reading this: live yout life!

That evening it was the Grammy Awards and they made a nice tribute to Kobe and his daughter during the ceremony. I was also very happy that Billie Eilish won the four big awards. She made history that night being the youngest artist winning the four big categories. She won five Grammys in total just like her brother Finneas. It was a beautiful show with amazing music and also a very emotional ceremony.

Yesterday, on Monday, I finished my podcast so I could release it today. This week I will work on the third episode which comes out next Tuesday. I will also go for a few walks and keep working on finding a job. Hopefully something comes up very soon.

Jan 28, 2020

Week 12-14

We're already three weeks later. It has been three weeks that we started the new year and new decade. And it started with some good news for me. On January 9, I had my first job interview here and that for a job I would love to have. I hope I will get the job, I just need to wait for a call. I really need to find a job this month because my budget is getting low. So I need something so I get some money in. Hopefully I will get that job. I was very excited when I got mail that I could go for a chat and in my opinion it went well. So fingers crossed!

The next day I went to a London Knights game again. It was a good game. The Knights won! I had a good seat nearby so I could really see all the action. After that I haven't done a lot. I kept looking for jobs online because you never know what can come up. I went for a few walks and watched some new shows on Netflix. I just finished watching AJ and the Queen with RuPaul and I loved it! I hope there is a second season coming.

I finally finished my first episode of my Belgic Music Podcast! It's finally out. You can listen to it on Belgic Music. Now I will finish working on the second episode which comes out next week. Last Sunday my friend Rachel was back in town so I spent the whole evening at her parents house. We had some nice dinner and then talked until almost midnight. I was happy to see her again. This upcoming week I hope I get a call from the job I would love to have. I'll probably go for a few walks and continue working on my podcast. But first tonight is game night! The Raptors are playing so I have to watch the game. I haven't missed any game yet and I would love to keep it that way right now.

Jan 22, 2020

Week 9-11

Happy New Year! It's 2020, a new year and new decade! I can't believe the tens are already over. Time really goes by fast. This last decade was one of ups and downs, growth and new adventures for me. And this year was also a memorable year in which a graduated college and came back to Canada. Let's make 2020 even better and greater. My one wish for this year is finding a job here in London and be able to stay here longer than a year. I really love it here and don't want to go back to Belgium. I miss my parents and family, but I'm lucky that we have internet and that I can talk to them whenever I want.

These last three weeks were kind of busy and also fun. In week 9, on Dec 13, there was a holiday celebration at Dundas Place. They were working on that street and finished it that week, so to celebrate the re-opening of the street they organised a holiday celebration with animation and live music. That evening I also saw the Christmas lights in Victoria Park for the first time again. It's as beautiful as I remember. The next day, on Dec 14, I went to the opening day of a new burger place in London, named The Burger's Priest. The first 100 people were getting a free cheeseburger and the first 200 people were getting a gift from the mystery box. I was just not in the first 100, but I was in the first 200, so I got a gift which was a free chicken burger the next time I went there. I went back the next week and enjoyed my free burger a lot.

On Sunday, Dec 22, the Toronto Raptors played in the afternoon for the first time, which means my parents were able to see the game too in Belgium. On Christmas Day they also played, and that for the first time. The game was at noon so my parents were able to see it. For Christmas I was in Cambridge with my Canadian mom Vertha and her daughter Rachel. It was the first time that I saw their new home and it was also the first time I saw the pet sagain. I was so happy to see their dog Milo and their cat Luna again. They were also very happy, especially Milo who really loves me. The second I came into the house, he was jumping around and following me everywhere. This was also the very first time I saw their new cat Cedric. The second I saw him, I was in love with him, and he with me. He is so fluffy and soft. Both cats even slept with me for a while.  I was there for two nights, which was way too short, but I had an amazing time there. It made me think back to the time two years ago when I was living with them in London. I can't wait to go back!

The days between Christmas and New Year are a bit of a weird period of time and are a bit blurry. I didn't really do a lot during those days, except going for walks, watching movies and series on Netflix, play video games with the kids and just relax. I watched the second season of You, which was crazy, I watched the first season of The Witcher, which is an amazing show and can become the new Game of Thrones and also watched a lot of recap videos on YouTube. I also went to the movies on Dec 30. I watched the movie Bombshell with Charlize Theron who plays Megyn Kelly, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie and Liv Hewson. It was a good movie based on true events that happened at Fox News.

For New Year's Eve I was in London at home. The whole day I followed the fireworks all over the world, and when I was almost midnight in Belgium, 6pm in London, me and my parents videochatted so we could count down together. Then I watched the Raptors game while eating a nice dinner, and after the game, which they won, I went to Victoria Park to enjoy some live music, free hot chocolat and fireworks at midnight. It was a nice way to start the new year. When I was back home the whole family was there and I ate some more food, drank some more and danced a little bit. I had a good time.

On New Year day I just relaxed and watched some videos on YouTube, watched a movie and played some video games with the kids. Now we're the second day of 2020. Today I am going to a basketball game for the first time after a while. The London Lightning played their first home game on Dec 27, which I would have liked to go to, but I couldn't get a good seat for that game, so I'm going today. The rest of the week I will start to look for jobs again, and hopefully I will find something this month.

I wish everyone a happy new year! Let's make it a good year in which all your dreams come true! Enjoy and live your life to the fullest!

Jan 2, 2020

Week 8

Only two more weeks until Christmas! This will be my second time celebrating Christmas in Canada. Two years ago I celebrated my first one in London and then I had an amazing time. It was a real white Christmas with snow, good food and nice people. At this moment, we had a little snow, but it doesn't stay on the ground, which is good but also a bit bad. I would love to have a white Christmas again, so hopefully the snow will come.

It has also been two months now that I'm back in London. I already did a lot of nice walks in the city and even saw some parts of the city I never saw when I was here two years ago. I'm still looking for a job, which I realised is not that easy as I thought. Hopefully I will find something after the holidays. For now, I do a lot of online research and try to apply to different jobs. Something will come from it, I have no doubt. I just need to be a little bit more patient.

Last Wednesday (Dec 4) I went to Fanshawe because they were orngainsing a chill lounge with a petting zoo. Two years ago, when I was studying at Fanshawe, they also did this a few times and every time I had to go to see the animals. So I went again to see the goats and the alpaca. It was nice to see them and pet them. Last week I also got a letter from my grandfather. He wrote it two weeks ago and last week I finally received it. It was nice to read it. Now it's on my shelf with the birthday card I got from my Canadian mom.

It's the end of the year, so there is a lot of lists from the best music, movies, series etc. of the year. I also started my music lists and will start making my new podcast for Belgic Music. This week I will record the first episode which comes out next week. So stay tuned for that! I will also post a list of my favourite American and Canadian music on my other website American Music News. There has been a lot of great songs this year and also a lot of great movies and series. I can't wait to see what the new year and new decade will bring.

Week 7

It's December, the last month of this year and this decade. I can't believe the year is almost over. It went by so fast. I'm going to enjoy the last month of 2019 and of this decade being in Canada. But that is still in the future, let's write about the week I had. I am still looking for a job. Every day, I look at different websites and look to apply if something interests me. This last week, I went for a few walks in London and I also went to the mall for Black Friday on the next day, so on Saturday. There was still a lot of sales and a lot of people in the mall. I found everything I needed, including a new headphone because the one I had just broke the day before.

Talking about Black Friday, on that Friday it was Red Nose Day in Belgium. Because of that there was a big show in the biggest venue in Belgium, the Sportpaleis, with a lot of different Belgian artists performing. I was lucky that they showed the whole thing live on Facebook, so I could watch it. It was an amazing show with a lot of my favourite artists. Even one of my friends who works at my favourite radio Q-Music, was there and was on stage at the end of the show. It was nice to see her so happy.

For the rest of the week, I did a lot of research for a job and I also started to work again on my website Belgic Music, which is about Belgian music. I will start a podcast on it, so I'm working on ideas and will start record the first episode soon. I will also start to write again on the webiste with all the new updates on Belgian music. So, if you are a music lover and like to learn about new music, you can go visit my website Belgic Music.

This week I will continue to look for a job and work on my podcast. I will also visit the Fanshawe campus again because they're doing a chill lounge again with a petting zoo. I will see the alpaca and goats again that I saw two years ago when they did a chill lounge. I can't wait to pet them! But this is all for this next week.

Week 6

We are already one week and a half further and I'm still looking for a job. I hope soemthing pops up soon, but something will. I'm sure of it. I keep looking every day and applied a few things already. I just didn't hear anything back yet. During this week and a half, I went for a few walks. I went for a walk around the other ponds here nearby. It was a long but nice walk. I saw a lot of beautiful nature and a lot of squirrels. I also went for a few walks downtown and I went to the mall a few times.

Last Saturday, on November 23th, it was a special day. It was the birthday of my idol Miley Cyrus. To celebrate it I listened to her music and watch some videos of her. Then in the evening there was a Raptors game, so I watched it. On Sunday, I went for a walk in the West side of the city which is a part of London I haven't went to yet. It was a nice walk. This week I went to do my hair and went for a walk again downtown. On Thursday it is the American Thanksgiving, so this means it will be Black Friday on Friday. I will probably go to the mall to see the sales and maybe buy a few things. This weekend I will rest and probably go for a walk. Next week I will continue to look for a job and maybe go to some places in person to tell them I'm looking for something. Hopefully something will pop up soon.

Week 5

I had a busy Sunday, so I'm writing this on Monday instead. This Sunday I watched the Belgian Cats, the national women's basketball team of Belgium, playing. They played on Thursday against Ukraine and Sunday against Finland and won both games. After watching the game on Sunday I went back to an ice hockey game of the London Knights for the first time since I'm back. It was a fun and good game. The Knights won 5-3.

The first part of the week I haven't really done anything except looking for a job. But then Thursday I went to the movies to see the new Charlie's Angels. It came out on Friday officially, but they already showed the movie on Thursday, so I had to go then and see my favourite actress Kristen Stewart. I loved the movie so much and Kristen is just amazing in it. I really want to see it again soon. On Friday I didn't really do something and on Saturday I went to the mall and ate a burrito at Chipotle. This week I will continue looking for a job and I will go for a few walks. Week 6 in Canada has started!

Week 4

It has been already one month now that I'm back in London, back in Canada. I'm starting to feel at home more and more. This week was a calm week. I did some research for a job and already apllied for a few. Hopefully I will find something soon. On Wednesday, it was Stranger Things Day so I had to celebrate it. I wore my new Stranger Things shirt on that day to celebrate and watched the bloopers they posted on social media. On that same day, I finall received my Raptors Championship ring.  I wore it while watching the game in the evening. Here below is a picture of me with my ST shirt and pictures of the ring.

This week we also had the first snowfall. I didn't stay for long, but tomorrow and during the rest of next week it will snow again and a lot, so I think the winter really started now. I'm happy to see snow again, I just don't really like the cold, but f you want snow you need to take the cold too. I went to Fanshawe again this week to eat some poutine and to finally see Caitlin from the international office. She was the one that managed everything when I was here two years ago to study. It was nice to see her again.

This weekend I stayed at home for a while. I played some videogames with the kids. Today, on Sunday, I went for my weekly Sunday walk at the ponds. There was a little snow left, but most of it melted already. It was still a nice walk. Next week I'm finally going to an ice hockey game from the London Knights. I can't wait to go. See you next week!

Week 3

We're already one week further. It has been three weeks now that I'm back in London and I start to feel like home again. This week was a fun and easy week. On Monday I went back to Fanshawe again to see some of my professors I had two years ago. I was happy to see them again and they were also happy to see me again. We had a good talk and they will help me find a job. Then I went to the last two radio stations I had to go to give me resume. Now I went to every radio station in London. Hopefully I will hear something from one of them soon.

This week I went to the store a few times to buy my own cookware and my Halloween costume, because on Friday night there was a Halloween party here at home. I was dressed as Eleven from Stranger Things season 3. I had a lot of fun and a lot of drinks. We ate a lot of food and did some karaoke. Here below are some pictures from the night.

This weekend was a rest weekend. I watched the new season of Atypical on Netflix and watched the Belgian show Wat Een Jaar (What A Year) because it was the episode which I was in the audience. You can rewatch the show here. You can see me a few times, I'm the girl with her Canada snapback on. I also watched SNL because it was Kristen Stewart who was the host, and she is my all favourite actor.

Today, Sunday Nov. 3, I went for a walk again to the Ponds. I made some nice pictures again. You can see them here below. At the end of next week it will be one month that I'm in London. I hope I will find a job soon and I also hope I can make some radio again because I really miss it.

Week 2

It has been a bit more than two weeks now that I arrived in London. I start to adapt and to feel at home. Since the last time I wrote here, I did some fun things. I went for a walk at the ponds not so far from the house. It's very beautiful and I will definitely go back again. I also worked a lot on finding a job this week. I made a whole portfolio about me and about the things I have already done. I also looked for jobs online and even applied for a few already. I hope I will find one soon. I did a tour of the different radio stations in London to give my resume in person. I did a few already and have two more to do on Monday. Here below are some photos I made during my walk at the ponds.

On Saturday, October 19, the trophy tour of the Toronto Raptors was in London and as a big fan I had to go. I was able to make a picture with the one and only Larry O'Brien Throphy, the real NBA champions trophy. There were also basketball machines that you could play one and also win a shirt. I tried a few times and won the shirt. It was a really fun day. Here below is my picture with the trophy, the shirt I won and the truck in which the trophy was.

On the 22th, it was my birthday, so I celebrated it with a nice walk and a surprise when I came home. I had no clue at all and was really surprised when I saw my new family all together singing for me. They got a cake and they also gave me some gifts which are amazing. I'm grateful I found a warm and nice home with friendly people. In the evening I watched the Raptors game. It was their first game of the season and before the game there was the ceremonie with the banner and the rings. At that moment, they also announced that as a fan you could also order a ring, so I did that. Hopefully the ring will arrive soon. Here below are some photos they made during the surprise and also some photos I made during my walk.

It has been a bit more than two weeks now that I'm back in London and I already had a good time. On Thurday, October 24th, I went to dinner with my friend Chela. We ate a big plate of pasta. Today, on October 26, I also had a great day. I saw my Canadian mom again and I also finally saw my Canadian sister Rachel. I was so happy to see her again. We went for lunch together and then went to the mall. I had a great time with them and can't wait to see them again.

Next week I will see some people I already knew from two years ago that I hadn't seen again yet. I will keep looking for a job and explore the city. More about my journey in London next week.

Week 1

It has been one week now that I arrived in Canada. It was only the first week, but I already some fun times and also celebrated Thanksgiving not once but twice. The first few days I took off to enjoy being back and also to adapt on life here. The day I arrived my Canadian mom took me at the airport and we went to eat dinner together. I was very happy to see her again.

I'm staying at the house of my friend's sister who is very friendly. She and her husband have four children walking around the house who are also all friendly and kind. And they also have a little dog which is amazing. I have a good room and washroom and I can also use the rest of the house which is beautiful. It has only been one week that I'm here, but I'm already feeling a little bit at home.

This pas week I already went downtown to see my favourite parks in London and I also went to Fanshawe to see the campus again. I missed it to be there. I saw a friend and it was nice to see him again. I also ate my first poutine again at Fanshawe. It is still as good as I remember. Last Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada and that means we celebrated it. I went to my good friend Rachel to celebrate it. I was very happy to see her again too. We had some good food and a good time. When I arrived home, I had to eat some of the turkey my Spanish mom, that's how I call her now, made and a piece of amazing cake she made. So I celebrated Thanksgiving twice.

Now it's time to look for a job. I hope I can find one easily and soon. Having a job would make everything perfect. So the hunt to a job started! Tomorrow I'm going to Fanshawe again to see one of my professors I had and Saturday I'm going to Covent Garden Market to see the NBA trophy. Fun things ahead! Next week more about jobhunting and living in Canada.

One more day

Today while I'm writing this, my last day in Belgium started. I will enjoy my last day exploring some last places before I have to go and I will also enjoy being with my parents, brother and cat. I'm totally ready to go, but also a bit nervous. It's a new start, a new adventure. But I'm thankful for the opportunity. My first day in Canada will be great too because my Canadian mom Vertha will get me at the airport and we will eat dinner together. I can't wait to see her and her daughter again! Now I'm going to go bike with my dad for the last time! Follow me her to see my journey in Canada!

Dreamelyne is back

Hello everyone, Dreamelyne is back! It has been two years that I went to Canada to study abroad. Now I am back with great news: in 4 weeks I am going back to Canada and this time for longer and not to study, but to work. On October 8th I will hop on the plane back to London. It has been a long road to be able to go back, I had to finish school until I had my diploma, then I had to work a while to have enough money to go back and I also had to apply for a work permit to be able to work in Canada. Now that everything is done, I am able to go. I had to find a place to stay, which was not so easy, but because of my network I already had by going to London, I finally found a place. Now I only have to find a job. I am very excited to go back and see my Canadian friends and family. I am counting down the days: 28 more to go! Canada, here I come!!

If you want to read my blog about my time in Canada while I was studying abroad, you can find it right here.
